Talk to Lotus is a groundbreaking AI system that maps the parallels between modern Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the ancient wisdom of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. By modeling the mind's cognitive patterns (vrittis) and their modifications through both CBT frameworks and yogic philosophy, it creates a unique therapeutic approach that bridges Eastern and Western psychology.
Challenge
While CBT and yoga are both powerful frameworks for understanding the mind, they've historically existed in separate domains. Modern therapeutic approaches often lack the depth of ancient wisdom traditions, while traditional practices can be inaccessible without proper philosophical context. The challenge was to create an AI system that could meaningfully synthesize these paradigms into practical, personalized guidance.
Solution
I developed a novel computational model that: - Maps CBT cognitive distortions to Yoga Sutras' klesha framework - Implements a custom transformer architecture trained on both psychological and philosophical texts - Uses pattern recognition to identify cognitive-behavioral patterns (vrittis) and their root causes - Generates personalized practices combining CBT techniques with traditional yoga methods - Tracks progress through both psychological metrics and spiritual development indicators
